About 'tuscaloosa barbecue'|Tuscaloosa Roadtrip








               Although               Tuscaloosa,               Alabama,               is               primarily               a               college               town               and               the               home               of               the               University               of               Alabama,               there               is               plenty               to               do               in               the               Druid               City               when               school               is               not               in               session.
               The               Tuscaloosa               Amphitheater,               which               opened               in               2011,               is               located               on               Jack               Warner               Parkway               in               downtown               Tuscaloosa.

During               the               summer               of               2012,               a               variety               of               musical               acts               will               be               playing               at               the               amphitheater.

Some               notable               acts               playing               the               Tuscaloosa               Amphitheater               this               summer               include               Daughtry               on               June               16,               Counting               Crows               on               June               28,               Ringo               Starr               on               July               3,               Crosby,               Still,               and               Nash,               on               July               11,               Dukes               of               September               on               July               28,               Merle               Haggard               and               Jamey               Johnson               on               August               11,               and               B.B.

King               and               the               Tedeschi               Trucks               Band               on               August               25.

R&B               fans               and               beer               connoisseurs               will               enjoy               the               Blues               and               Brews               Music               Festival               on               July               21,               which               begins               at               5:00               and               offers               beer               samples               and               blues               music.

Ticket               prices               vary               according               to               the               event.

Tickets               for               all               of               these               acts               are               available               through               Ticketmaster               or               at               the               Tuscaloosa               Amphitheater               box               office.

Tickets               can               also               be               purchased               over               the               phone               by               calling               (800)               745-3000.
               The               Tuscaloosa               County               Parks               and               Recreation               Authority's               July               4th               Celebration               on               the               River               event               will               also               take               place               at               the               Tuscaloosa               Amphitheater               between               6:00               and               8:30               p.m.

on               Independence               Day.

The               event               will               feature               free,               kid-friendly               games               and               activities               such               as               a               bounce               house               and               a               sack               race.

The               Tuscaloosa               Symphony               will               play               at               7:30               p.m.

inside               the               amphitheater.

Admission               is               free.

This               event               also               features               a               free               fireworks               show.
               Sports               fans               and               barbecue               aficionados               will               enjoy               the               A-Club               Barbecue               Cook-off               at               Bryant               Denny               Stadium               on               June               23.

The               event               is               open               to               the               public,               and               tickets               are               $25.

A               ticket               to               the               cook-off               includes               access               to               the               event,               a               barbecue               plate               provided               by               Jim               N               Nick's               Barbecue,               a               locker               room               tour,               access               to               the               field,               and               family               fun.

There               will               be               three               separate               barbecue               competitions,               a               boat               show,               interviews               with               current               and               former               varsity               athletes               at               the               University               of               Alabama,               and               more.
               The               Brawl               at               the               Mall,               a               boxing               match,               begins               at               7:00               p.m.

on               June               23               at               McFarland               Mall.

Tuscaloosa's               own               professional               boxer               and               2008               Olympic               bronze               medalist               Deontay               Wilder               will               fight               Owen               Beck,               the               Jamaican               heavyweight               champion.

Tickets               range               in               price               from               $25               to               $100               and               can               be               purchased               in               advance               by               calling               (205)               799-1696.
               The               Hot               Hundred,               also               known               as               the               Hottest               Ride               in               the               South,               is               a               bike               race               that               begins               in               Tuscaloosa               on               July               28.

Riders               can               choose               between               five               distances               ranging               from               28               to               103               miles.

The               103-mile               trek               goes               through               rural               Tuscaloosa               and               Greene               counties.

Registration               is               $35               prior               to               July               24               and               then               increases               to               $50.

All               proceeds               benefit               the               Tuscaloosa               Community               Mental               Health               Task               Force               and               Indian               Rivers               Community               Mental               Health.
               The               Arc               of               Tuscaloosa,               an               organization               benefitting               people               with               developmental               disabilities,               is               hosting               its               20th               annual               charity               golf               tournament               at               North               River               Yacht               Club               on               June               25               from               8:00               a.m.

to               5:00               p.m.

A               cocktail               reception               for               the               golf               tournament               will               be               held               on               June               24               from               7:00               to               9:00               p.m.,               also               at               the               Yacht               Club.

The               fee               for               the               cocktail               reception               is               $50               for               non-golfers,               and               the               fee               to               enter               the               tournament               is               $300               for               a               single               player               and               $1200               for               a               foursome.
               Thirty-five               miles               from               Tuscaloosa,               at               the               Tannehill               Ironworks               Historic               State               Park               in               McCalla,               there               are               numerous               summer               events.

Tannehill               Trade               Days               occur               from               March               to               November,               on               the               third               Saturday               and               Sunday               of               the               month,               and               feature               over               200               vendors               in               2012.

The               official               summer               fun               began               Memorial               Day               weekend               with               a               Civil               War               reenactment               of               the               Skirmish               at               Tannehill,               and               more               events               are               planned               for               the               rest               of               the               summer.

On               June               9               and               16               annual               Down               Home               Psaltery               Festival               will               feature               musical               entertainment.

In               July,               the               Antique               Engine               and               Tractor               Show               will               take               place               at               the               park               from               July               13               -               15.

Tannehill               State               Park               will               host               the               VW               Bug               Blast               on               August               25.

The               Bug               Blast               charges               $15               to               enter               the               competition,               $50               for               venders,               and               $5               for               the               swap               meet.

All               Volkswagens               are               welcome               at               the               event.

Summer               ends               at               Tannehill               with               the               21st               annual               Labor               Day               Celebration               and               Moon               Pie               Eating               Contest               on               September               3.

Park               admission               is               $3               per               adult,               $2               for               senior               citizens,               and               $1               for               children               6-11.

Children               ages               five               and               under               are               free.
               There               are               also               several               recurring               fun               summer               events               in               Tuscaloosa.

Tuscaloosa               Barnyard,               a               petting               zoo               on               Turner               Bridge               Road               in               northern               Tuscaloosa,               is               open               to               the               public               from               9:00               a.m.

to               noon               on               Thursdays               and               Fridays.

Admission               is               $10               per               person.

Art               Night,               which               is               free               to               the               public,               is               an               open               exhibition               of               local               artwork               at               galleries               throughout               Tuscaloosa.

Art               Night               occurs               on               the               first               Thursday               of               the               month.

On               Thursday,               Friday,               and               Saturday,               adults               can               enjoy               wine               tasting               at               Carpe               Vino               from               5               to               7               p.m.

The               Bama               Belle               paddle               boat               will               offer               sightseeing               cruises               on               June               10,               July               22,               and               August               26.

Boarding               begins               at               1:30               p.m.,               and               the               cruise               lasts               from               2:00               to               2:30.

Admission               is               $15,               and               reservations               are               required.
